Mini Service Project

I believe that sometimes the simplest gifts can mean the most.

One of my friends, with the most beautiful soul is going on a mission trip to Zimbabwe this week.  I am so filled with joy for her! She has been wanting to do something for quite a while now. The Lord finally spoke to her and let her know where He needed her most…Africa.

I am embarrassed to admit, I do not know much about Africa. I do know that since we homeschool, we are about to know quite a bit!! Ha ha ha!!! It is a country that my friend’s church has been actively helping. I know they sent a mission team to Uganda last year. The stories I have heard about that trip were fabulous!

From what we have read about Zimbabwe, Christianity is there. A good percentage of the people claim to be Christians or follow islam. Ancestor worship is the most common form of worship. Because the people of Zimbabwe are a mix of European and African culture they tend to mix religious beliefs of the old with the new. That being said, there is need of missionary work even among the Christians there. My friend and her team will be traveling out in search of those in the less affluent areas, more toward the isolated villages that have not heard the name of our Lord and Savior. What an exciting journey!!

We did discover she can wear her regular clothes there without disrespecting the people there. Yay!! We also know that the people there love jewelry. Awesome!! So a few of us got together for a service project…099 We made salvation bracelets for passing out to the people my friend and her team will be talking too!

The beads all have meanings. I am sure you have seen these before, but here is a quick reference as to what each color symbolizes.

Black- represents our sin

Red- represents the blood of Jesus

White- represents the forgiveness and cleansing of our sins

Clear Blue- represents the water of the baptism

Purple- represents the royalty we are now a part of

Yellow- represents knowing that we will receive heaven because of Jesus

Green- represents the new life we have been given

Gold-represents heaven

It was a blessing for my girls and I to get to be a part of making these little remembrances for the people our friend will meet. It was such an honor to be able to pray over them and for the souls who will be receiving them! Little trinkets, that could mean so much to someone who is just getting to know Jesus!! May her trip be blessed and filled with opportunities to share the Word of the Lord!!

I am so excited for my sweet missionary friend to be making her trip to Zimbabwe!! I know that she is going to make such a difference to someone!!

On a Prayer Chain

I have been part of a prayer chain since Palm Sunday.

Everyday at 3:30 and 4:30 am, then again at 3:30 pm I am praying for friends who are visiting Russia and Germany right now.

Early, I know.

My husband gets up at that time, so since I get up with him it is not that big of a deal. I do know that the time difference means that they really need to be covered in prayer over there at that time too. The reason for the prayer chain is so special. My friends are on a missions trip. They are educating the youth in Russia and Germany about the tragedy of abortion.

Here is how they were asking for prayer…

“Please join us in prayer for an upcoming Russia & Germany missions trip that a team of us are going on. Please pray for the Spirit’s leading, unity of the team, hearts of the Russian kids that we will be with, their teachers, the translators, the Russian church that is planning everything and coordinating the camp, a Pro-Life conference that we will be having at the church in educating on fetal development, abortion procedures, abstinance, sexual integrity, post abortion & and sexual abuse healing, the church to receive God’s healing from abortion and sexual abuse/trauma, and for all the provisions needed for us to go and for the needs in Russia & Germany. If you would like to be on our prayer chain while we are gone, we would SOOOOOO appreciate it. We definitely need to be covered in prayer. The dates of the trip are March 23-April 16.”

Why is it so important that Russians learn about this?

Did you know that in Russia the average woman has 4 abortions in her lifetime?

It is thought of as a type of birth control.

This breaks my heart.

High abortion rates drive debate on contraceptive methods in Russia

I was shocked to read that there are 50 abortions for every 1,000 women of childbearing age in Russia.

In Germany the number is less then 10 per 1,000.

That is still 10 too many yet better than here in America where ours is 20 per 1,000.

There were about 65 kids at this camp they were running.

I have heard that they had divine conversations everyday with the kids!

It has been life changing for everyone.

So many kids hearing and seeing just how much God loves them!!

Here is what I was sent about how things have been going out there for them…

“We have seen the Lord change so many hearts. The first few days at camp the kids were shy and not really expressive. By the third day you could see walls coming down. They would share their stories with you and there was not a dry eye. By the last day at camp no one wanted to leave and there were so many tears….. They are very open. We get text messages, Facebook messages, & calls everyday from them wanting to come see the team and spend time together.”

Praise God!!

What an special event to be a part of.

So glad the Lord opened so many young hearts to the truth.

Now for many of them healing can begin.

It is such a blessing to see prayers being answered!

Isaiah 61:1-3 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.

If you feel you would like to pray for the missionaries too I know it would be so well received.
