Prayer On My Heart Today

Spending today in prayer.

My daughter is at her first really big photo shoot as the lead photographer.

My prayer request:

May The Lord guide her eyes to the most glorious of shots today. May the clients be blessed by what her camera shoots. Most of all, may God be blessed by whatever comes of today. May her works be all focused through You Lord. May she remain calm and focused while confident in her gift. May she share her love for You and shine for You in her actions today. Lord God, be with my baby. Keep your hand on her shoulder while I cannot. May she feel Your embrace as she takes these steps in her business and know that You are there with her. May she remain focused yet vibrant today while capturing moments of joy, wonder, amazement, laughter and probably nervousness. Thank you God!
You are so good!

Amen.

Our Church Loves America

phone3 281Our Pastor loves America!

We celebrate big!

I went to church really early before our America Celebration, while they were still setting up and staked out my spot!

phone3 283phone3 284  phone3 282Then I went home, did some chores, made dinner, served it, then took a ride down to church.

A few other people had gotten there by the time I got back.

So we kind of picnicked with them too.

Processed with RookieYeah.

Standing room only.

So glad I had my spot already because they were turning people away it was so crowded!!

Lucky me, my friend who just started attending our church was actually sitting right next to us!!

Bonus!!

Worship began, which was incredible, and my littlest got her praise on!!

phone3 288Poor girl, this is all she could see too.

phone3 287Didn’t stop her from singing her heart out though!!

Aimee had fun running into a friend…

phone3 289…the fife and drum was not their favorite.

Look at Rebecca’s reaction to the fife.

phone3 290They just don’t really appreciate the old stuff yet.

That is okay.

Our Pastor started an amazing sermon that ended with fireworks!

(Last year our church accidentally caught the freeway on fire with the fireworks, so we were all surprised we were given a permit to try them again!!)

Here they are!!

Loved all of it!!

We came home and put this on our chalk board.

Sometimes we just need a day as a family to just forget about the world and go out and see beauty.

Our hearts broken, but finding a way to heal, we spent time together at the ocean.

The weather was beautiful.

The company was wonderful

and the day was bonding.

I love my family.

I am so blessed to have all that I have and I do not want to take it for granted.

Thank you Lord for everything.

I am not worthy yet You bless me continually.

I praise You!

Thank You for Your kindness, mercy and grace.

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

Please keep these words in my heart as I go through my day.

Lord God, I know You are in control.

With You all things are possible.

Morning Friend

Since I have been so busy the last few weeks, I thought I would do a little catch up of where I am today.

Good-Morning-Coffee-PinkToday: is Tuesday.

Outside is: overcast and a little breezy.

I can smell: my peppermint essential oils in my diffuser. They make the morning so perky!!

In the oven for dinner: I have turkey leftovers from Easter. I think I am going to use the meat to make enchiladas for dinner.  That sounds so good to me!!!

What I have been thinking about:  I am really learning a bunch about essential oils right now.  That is partially why I have not had time to blog.  Let me explain this better, I have a good friend who’s husband was diagnosed with cancer of the mouth a few months ago.  They have 4 kiddos and this would be devastating because it was far advanced. Through herbs, cleansing and changing his diet,  after 1 month is cancer free.  He did no Chemo and took no Dr prescribed medications yet still healed his body.  Crazy right?  So this stuff has always interested me. God put all this healing stuff here on earth for us to use. Should that not be the most sought after cures? Here is a person I know who healed using things from God. I have another friend who used peppermint oils to heal her back from chronic pain. Another friend who’s father cut himself to the bone with a knife, used lavender oil immediately on the injury, and it healed from the inside out with absolutely no scar. Just so many personal stories, or friends of friends stories, who have been healed using things from the Lord our God. I know God is the only one who decides when we are born and when we die, but we are to make good choices in between those dates. I want to make sure I use things God has provided for me to heal myself. I do believe in the man made pharmaceuticals for certain things. I just don’t want to go to those first.  My body usually has a bad reaction to them anyway.  I have gotten the peppermint oil and used it on my back. I think it was a miracle for me. I have not gotten up out of bed like an old woman in weeks! It has been amazing!! I held my daughter through the entire worship service music last week. I have not done that in years!!! She is bigger and heavier now than she was then too!! So I know there is something to this. I have been researching and I might be posting as I figure out more.  Anyway, that is what I have been thinking about.

Project I am working on:  I am starting a new apron this week.  I have the material for a skirt apron but just now I have been thinking that I should be making a full apron instead. Hhhmmmm?? Not so sure yet but I better figure it out soon!!

Mood today:  Mellow. The younger two are off at testing today and I am home with the boy doing high school math. Yuck. On the bright side, he has my mostly, full attention today.

What I am reading: I am reading Inkheart with Rebecca, Pilgrims Progress with Michael Jr, Wind and the Willows with Belle and I am waiting for my own book to show up that I ordered to learn more about essential oils.

School stuff: I am loving doing Wind and the Willows with Belle!! We are making a lapbook with it!! So much fun!! I found it at Confessions of a Homeschooler!! We just started studying the book of Kings as a family and I am getting ready to start a study of the solar system.

Picture to share: 044How we ended our study on the Resurrection.

family table

We always have dinner at the table.

We wait till everyone is there and seated before we start.

We hold hands and have family prayer. Dad starts, then each of us gives thanks or praise for something that happened during our day.

Then we can eat.

We talk or play a game,  usually charades or the ungame. Some days we continue the game after dinner.

Then you ask to be excused.

You push your chair in and take  your plate to the sink.

Dinner is over.

At our house, I like to think of dinner as a time for getting to really just relax and communicate.  Not “how was your day son?” and the typical teen response “fine.” Wow.  Learned a ton about him there. No, I mean more like “Hey, that new game you got, how are  you doing at it? I saw you really ringing up the points! Looked hard really hard to me!!” Then let him try to answer “fine” because I will just keep pulling more out till you are having a conversation with me!  I can really listen to my kids and find out what they are really interested in, a new video game, a new song, a craft they found they would like to try, or cookies they might want to create this weekend. My husband and I sit across from each other. This gives 2 kiddos his ear and 2 kiddos mine. They feel heard on many levels. Some days we just have fun and bond together. We play silly games that do not require pieces just maybe a card to read. Questions like: What color reminds you of the person on your left and why?

Here is one of the  silly games we play at our table. We have a little pail of questions that we pull out randomly then we all have to answer.

Here are some of the questions in our pail:

Why do you think God loves us so much?

What is your favorite joke?

Can you describe the most beautiful place you have ever visited?

When  you think of God, how do you picture Him?

Is there anything  you are afraid to try or do, and if so, what are your fears?

What have we done in the past that you would like to do again?

If you were given one chance to travel back in time, what event would you like to see?

What is one thing you prayed about today?

If  you had a robot, what would you have him do and why?

If  you could change 3 things about yourself, what would they be?

Is there anybody in history that you have read about that you would like to meet?

Where should mom and dad go for their next “date”?

I never really thought about how different everyone’s dinner routines are.  I was learning that some of my friends thought it was odd that I insist when guests come for dinner I have them included in the prayers.  I make sure kiddos set the table. Everyone participates from conception till completion at our dinner table. I just figured that was the norm.

My friends homes had rules not at all like mine. Some , the rule at their home is to have the kids be silent and only mom and dad can talk. Some didn’t think that manners were important at all (oh in my house they are!!). Some of them only have family dinner for Christmas and Easter. So many different families with so many different styles for dinner.

Who knew something as simple as a dinner table had so many various norms?

It struck me that it is kind of like being a Christian isn’t it? We all practice and have the same basic “table” or bible but we all treat ours differently. Some just “eat” there on Sunday, holidays, or with appropriate company. Others sit there at the table but use it only for themselves, they never invite others over to “dine” with them. I have seen the homes where the table is just there to look pretty. We need our homes to have tables that are openly used and have plentiful “food”.   God’s Word is manna, or food, for the soul. It is through daily feeding on the Bread of Life that we obtain the strength that we need for the trials ahead. It is by having God’s Word in our hearts that we keep from sinning against Him. Jeremiah said “Thy words were found and I did eat them: and Thy Word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart” (Jeremiah 15:16)  The bible also says in Deuteronomy 8:3 ” Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.”  It is also  written in Romans 10:17 that
“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.  Putting that all together to me means that we should not only consume the Word of God, but we need to share it with each other, have a welcoming and well used “table” in our homes.

There is no better place to start, than at our own family table.

Have a blessed day friend!! Hope you have a wonderful day at your family table!

Thankful Season

What are you thankful for?

I know a bunch of people really love to do the daily post on facebook, twitter, google+ and their blogs about the things they are thankful for.

Hey, I am that girl!!

you know it!

Day 11:

I am thankful for my time alone with God in the mornings.

It refreshes me and starts my day off on the right foot.

Thank you God for our precious time together!

80)

Then I feel bad on weekends or busy days when I missed posting.

So my next post is more like this:

Days 8,9&10

Becca spring 2008 001Thankful that this little cutie is in my life to keep me smiling!!

She is so precious and has the most giving heart.

This weekend she made cookies and dinner for our neighbor who is doing poorly health wise and her husband so he would not have to cook just for himself. This girl is a blessing from God, not just to me, but to everyone who has the pleasure of meeting her. She is a great inspiration to her big sister and a great role model for her little sister. This girl is going to be a fabulous wife and mother one day!!

What a lucky mommy I am!!

:0)

I love these posts, I just always feel I am not posting what I may want to really post because of confidentiality in some situations…sometimes for the giver…sometimes for the receiver…sometimes because the actions mean more when they are done anonymously.

This year I decided to try something new.

Hey we changed October traditions, why not November too?

So here is what I am trying.

Instead of posting to the world what I am thankful for,

I am writing to my family.

131Every day they get a new reason why I am thankful for them.

127Each kiddo (and Dad) has their own reason.

Each one is unique for each past day and what that person did.

Like Rebecca taught Belle how to braid hair the other day.

How cool is that??

So I wrote it down and left it on the sideboard for her to see.

Then when they have read them I am putting them in a “blessing box”.

130On thanks giving we can go over them or maybe I will just save them till next year and see how our blessings have changed.

I think I will even start putting a special blessing from me to each of them randomly out there through out the month.

I think this will be a special family tradition.

I am excited to see how this plays out!

Do you have any special family traditions that have meant much to your heart?

I just love things like that!!

I would love to hear them!!

I want to start new more meaningful and personal type traditions with my family, that they can in turn use with theirs as they begin to have their own.

A family legacy…worth more than gold.

132Have a blessed day friend!
