Getting Ready for the Parade (on Veteran’s Day)

phonephun 055 phonephun 056 phonephun 057 phonephun 058These kiddos got up so early!!

They were at the VFW by 7 am on their day off of school, decked out in their dress blues, ready to march.

Then they were off to the parade site.

I am so glad we changed Michael’s division. This group does so much more to serve the community. Service to/for others is monumental in raising good adults. Here all the cadets WANT to serve too.

They are amazing.

The conduct they have, the pride they have in our country is admirable.

These young men and women are focused and determined and are going to make a difference in this world.

So proud that my son is part of the United States Naval Sea Cadet program.

Thankful for the Veterans

Start the School Year with a Field Trip!!

Have you ever had the chance to take a tour of a real Navy ship?

We did!

It was so impressive!!

It was Navy Days and we took advantage of all the Navy ships stationed in LA Harbor.

I know this picture is hard to see, but it was so beautiful to watch. Every Navy person, retired or active, stopped what they were doing to salute the flag as she was being raised. I admit it. I choked up. I loved seeing this elderly vet in front of me turn and raise his hand to honor our precious flag.

As the sun broke through the clouds a little bit later I got a picture of the USS Iowa. She is quite a ship! We did not check her out though. That will have to be a field trip for a different day!

When/if Jr joins he will have a lovely sleeping area like this.

Hopefully he will never have to see this, the hospital area. They do have more room though…

Aug 10, 2014 065 - CopyJr and Dad both loved the weapons guys that were there.

Since you could check them out, they did!

Our family appreciates you and all your sacrifices you make  to keep us free.

May your lives be blessed!

Thank you for sharing our little adventure with us!

Have a blessed day my friend!

The Boy Went to Camp

Processed with RookieHe packed his bag, put in his BDU’s and was ready to go!

Marksmanship training camp is what the boy signed up for.

He loves his weapons.

So for a week we sent him off to learn all about as many as he could remember and have the chance to actually fire many of them.

phone3 152They stayed where they would be shooting.

phone3 163Jr looks so happy about the cots!

That is some thick foam there!!

Ha ha ha!!

They had a nice range just for them.

phone3 155Still hard leaving your kiddo for a whole week.

The parents and wives who send their loved one away for 7+ months at a time, they are so strong!!

God is the only way I would be able to make it through that.

Here is the day we picked him up.

phone3 241The boys were so proud they finished and got their hunting licenses too!!

Had to grab his orders and then we got to come back home.

After he said goodbye to all his new friends.

phone3 248These boys all were just like Jr.

I know he really loved finding so many young men that enjoy the same things he does.

They all plan on joining the service in a few years too.

Here is one of the targets Jr brought home that he shot at.

phone3 249From 50 ft away, shooting a rifle for the second time,  I would be lucky to just hit the page.

That is why I have a shotgun!!

Ha ha!

He already has the goal of going back next year and becoming an expert marksman.

I guess he found his calling :)

Have a safe and blessed day friend!

Today For Our Family…Hebrews 12:2

087AMEN!

I AM SO THANKFUL FOR MY SAVIOR!!

I know I have been missing here from my blog lately.

We have had so many important family things going on, that I have had no time to sit and write.

God is in control though and that is the most important part.

I have been blessed through these past few weeks, with getting to reestablish my Prayer Warrior status.

I do love that.

I love being able to pray for others. I enjoy getting to see the miraculous things God does in others lives, be they good or bad, but to then understand and see God ‘s plan unfold in front of me.

It is incredible how many people I know and love are under these heart wrenching, life changing or health related attacks. There is no other word for them other then “demonic”.

Yes, that bad.

I do feel honored that they have asked me to pray for  and with them to improve these issues.

I hope it means that they can see Christ in me!

:)

We have had some happy moments too!

Michael Jr went to Camp Pendelton again…

066He was there for 3 days.

He looks like a man!

They had a competition with other divisions…

our division won nothing.

Oh well, I know they had a good time!

We picked him up on Mother’s day.

The whole battalion yelled out “Happy Mother’s Day!”

I cried.

Sappy, I know I am, but I loved it!

Then my son brought me this.

101Thank goodness I wear sunglasses!

I know my makeup was everywhere but on my eyes right then!!

We had state testing too.

Yes, we home school, but we are with a PSP.  Part of us being under the umbrella of a big private school is that we have to prove that our kiddos are actually learning!!

Ha ha ha!!

All of us moms in this group, we find lessons EVERYWHERE!! So much so that my son has been known to say ” Can’t we just do something for fun and NOT have to make it a lesson too!!”

So anyway, here is the first day of testing, sitting at a desk, in a classroom, with sharpened pencils and lunchbox on hand.

Processed with RookieThey hate it.

Its only 3 half days.

They even have their school pictures taken during testing days.

None of the kids really think its great. Not even seeing their friends every day is exciting. Actually all our kids have so much going on, they see each other all the time anyway!!

They did great on their testing though.

Just glad it is over!!

We did so much and I have no more time to blog!!

I will be back soon though.

I promise!!

Have a blessed weekend with  your family!!

Christmas Parade 2013

Oh my gosh it was so cold!!

It was raining and cold!!

I am getting a chill just thinking about it!!

BRRRRRR!!!

He did it though! Yes he did! Michael Jr was in the Upland Christmas Parade with his unit and they were on television!!!

Whoo hoo!!

Look how sharp he looked!!

034In his dress blues and looking sharp!!

The rain was freezing and just kept coming down. About 1/4 of the parade gave up and left before it even started.

The sea cadets were not scared of a little water though!!!

036They went out there and lined up anyway.

042They were granted the use of dark colored umbrellas thank goodness!!

All of us parents were scurrying around finding umbrellas for the cadets.

They had never marched with umbrellas and it took a little getting used to, trying to share them and not hit each other with them. They pulled it off though!!

051Yes those are blue and white umbrellas…it really started to pour and I think the Lt.s  would rather have had some bright umbrellas than some angry mommas!! Ha ha ha!!

The cadets were a few behind our school float actually!

055 056Those poor girls got really wet!

As the parade was ending, because the cadets were the 3rd from the last of the parade, the rain stopped.

060The cadets looked awesome out there!

I am so proud of my young man!!

Still cold thinking about this!!  Time for more coffee!!
