White Flies

We have a beautiful wall of ficus on the side of our house.

15 trees to be exact.

I love them.

They are so pretty!

Last week they came under attack by some horrible little creatures…white flies.

Look at what they are doing to my trees!

004It does not look like much from the picture does it?

005

Those are the little eggs they are laying every day on my leaves.

Here is what happens to my leaves every day from those little life suckers.

006That is just 2 days worth of leaves falling.

Nope it is not just fall.

That is the devastation these little white flies can do.

I have whole sections missing in my wall of ficus.

Ugh.

Check this out. I hung up a fly strip yesterday and this is what I found this morning.

003Gross.

It was covered in those little white flies.

We are trying the organic ways of getting rid of them right now.

That means oils and soaps…I am not seeing any real dent in the population of white flies though.

I may have to actually go to products that are man made.

The local garden center is seeing a ton of me lately.

I wish it was just for flower and herb purchases.

Dinner Tonight

I made “stew-oup”.

Everyone has been a bit under the weather over here. My Rebecca got it worst of all. Poor thing just felt miserable.

So I pulled out my bone broth determined to make her better the healthy way with soup.

I pulled out the frozen bone broth and defrosted it.

I added left over chicken, sausage, corn, bell peppers from the garden, and a cup of rice.

I put it on the stove in my soup pot to warm for dinner and to make the house smell delicious.

I asked the kiddos to keep an eye on it and stir it every so often while I ran out to do an errand with my husband.

Rebecca called about 20 minutes after I left.

“Mom? I thought you said this was soup that Aimee and I are watching?”

“It is…” I replied.

“I hope you are almost home then, because this does not look like soup.”

5 minutes later I walked in the door and this is what I found.

051

I apparently added more than a cup of rice.

OOPS.

It was more like stew…but it tasted really good!!

I actually think I might make this again, but on purpose this time!!

Ha ha ha!!

Let’s just hope it kicks this bug out of our happy home!!

So Proud

Reg to vote.jpegSo proud of this picture.

My girl, registered to vote and signed her first petition!

This is what being 18 is all about!

Her voice will be heard!

I know many of her friends do not think this is important. I guess they slept through their government class.

Here is the information on the first petition she signed.

It is to repeal AB1266.

Privacy for all Students

You can go to the Fliers and Resources section and scroll down to Info and Resources .

There you will find specific information about the legislation that was signed into law August 12 here in California with no input from the people.

I am completely summing this up, pretty much if you feel you are of the opposite sex, even for the moment,  you may use their bathroom or locker room at your discretion. It was put together to make it easier for the transgender to feel at ease. This law was not thought through before passing it. Instead it is pervert friendly. In local colleges it has already caused problems. Men entering into locker rooms just hanging out watching the ladies change. They may not be escorted out because they are “considering” a sex change. This was at the college level. What will happen when it happens in elementary,  Jr High or High school with our girls, boys, grandkids, nieces, nephews, ect.? How about instead if transgenders need special space, a single restroom, like the teachers have. This can prove bad for the transgender kids too. No child should be in a position that a pervert has the upper hand and easy access to them. This is just a bad law and I am so proud that my daughter’s first petition to sign was to repeal this law.

We raised our daughter right!!

My Son Studies Reptiles

My son has been infatuated with lizards from day one.

When he was little it started out with hunting them down in the garden and just holding them all day.

He had lizard things all over his room.

He just really enjoys lizards.

Here is the beauty of home educating my child.

He loves them and this is now his elective class

Herpetology.

He went to a reptile expo already…

reptile-coupon-300x127That was amazing!!

Love all the vendors that show up and share their reptiles!!

Food (for the reptiles) is cheaper too!!

Bonus!!

Then he got to go to a reptile zoo

ReptileZoo…Look how big that snake is!!!
Oh my gosh this place was great too!!

They have snakes, iguanas, big turtles, little turtles, tarantulas, and lots of things that I have never even heard of before. They had alligators in the back of the zoo! It was really safe how they had them set up so you could see them up close (plexiglass) and not get hurt.

They had tons of turtles, big ones there too!

There were all sorts of reptiles there and a small store too.

The best part was the people that work there are so into teaching you about all the reptiles they have there. They don’t just know the bare minimum information either, they really had good information about where the reptiles originated from, what they eat, who is endangered, why regular people should not own some reptiles, ect.

He learned so much there!!!

Love it!!

He has started reading books and doing reports on different types of lizards.

He is cataloging his own lizards.

Here are some of them:

130 133 140 152 013 026 027 032 043The last one is his newest.

Oh yeah, he got into snakes too.

Not my favorite pet.

He is pretty good at this whole lizard learning thing.

One of the few classes HE will ASK to study!!

He WANTS to learn this stuff.

I love that he wants to!

This was the boy that was ready to drop out of school in 4th grade when he went to public school, and in 5th grade they were ready to let him.

Thank you God for helping me  step out in faith and jump in with both feet into homeschooling.

My son is doing so much better now.

Nope its not me just saying it either.

He gets state tested every year through our PSP.

He is right on grade level now…and WANTS to LEARN!!!

Homeschool has been a blessing to us.

Reptiles are a blessing to study!

God made the wild animals according to their kinds
the livestock according to their kinds,
and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds.
And God saw that it was good.
