beautiful

Look at what was in the sky last night!

This was the brightest rainbow I have ever seen.

It even had a really bright second bow over it.

The picture is just not doing it justice.

Here was the amazing sky behind the double rainbows.

Our God is AMAZING!!

Genesis 9:16
Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

Ezekiel 1:28
Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD.

Michael Jr said

“Mom can you imagine how amazing the first rainbow must have been? The one that Noah saw? And we think this one is amazing!”

Could not have said it better myself.

Jr’s new friend

Michael Jr is starting his own business.

He is going to start breeding lizards.

Here is one of his new guys.

It is a baby chameleon

He is learning all about Chameleons and how to breed them right now.

He already bought two leopard geckos and just picked up a male and female bearded dragons.

He thinks he is going to get a couple of corn snakes….

we will see about that.

I think he wants to breed Russian Tortoises also.

Well he always wanted to be a pet store owner so I guess this is the first step toward his dream.

God bless him!

I hope this is wonderful for him.

Been busy!!

This past month has been so busy!!

We had a ton of birthdays, our anniversary, happy but hot days, funerals, started school again…pretty much just life has been going on.

So happy with our new addition though!!

How prayers are like your closet.

Aimee was talking to me today about how boring prayers can be.

“I always say the same thing mom.”

She has a point if you look at it at surface value.

Yes then prayers can be boring.

“Thank you God for…Please bless…Help me with…Amen.”

Yeah, that can be pretty repetitious, very true.

Here is the thing,

I thought the same thing when I was younger.

God heard my prayer, knows what I want/need so He is not in need of my constant badgering.

Hmmm….yes He knows our prayers, yet He does not want to just grant us what we ask for. He wants for us to do our part as well.

Magazines self help sections often tell their readers to write down their affirmations and stick them on the bathroom mirror. That way it is the first thing seen in the morning and is repeated while looking in the  mirror. Eventually due to self-fulfilling prophesy, the person will begin to do or become what ever they are positively affirming every day.

It is the same with prayer.

If everyday I pray to become closer to God, then I am bringing that to the forefront of my thoughts everyday. Next thing you know I am bored and grabbing my bible, getting closer to God. I am finding bible studies to join, better churches to affiliate with, new friends that are challenging me to become a better christian! Is that God answering my prayers? Yes! I believe that

God helps those who help themselves.

-Ben Franklin, Poor Richard’s Almanac 1757

I read this from 2 Thessalonians 3:10 to support that thought..

For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.

That said, yes I believe we need to work toward our prayers.

Make no mistake about this: You can never make a fool out of God. Whatever you plant is what you’ll harvest.Galations 6:7

She got that.

Prayers need to be worked on. They are not just magical gifts that appear suddenly and solve our problems. They are tools to get you where you need to be.

I could see she still thought it was boring.

Yes, the science (and our God loves science) of it makes sense.

You see it.

You do it.

You become it.

All great and wonderful words but not teen enough.

Okay,

lets try this again.

Think of your closet.

You go to your closet every single day.

There are the same clothes in there every time you open the doors.

Now then, there are days when you add more clothes to your collection.

There are days when you clear out clothes to donate to others from your clothing options.

You still always have your same basic closet with clothes, just now and then the ensembles change.

Prayers are the same way.

We pray similarly every day.

Eventually as life goes on things happen and we add to our prayers.

Friends and family with sickness, death, birth, heart break and celebrations change our prayers or add to them.

Then there are days when we “clean out” our prayers.

Prayers have been answered.

Loved ones died peacefully, babies born perfectly, goals achieved, hearts surrendered and life goes on as was intended.

We now have different things/people/situations to pray for.

Yet everyday,

the same basic prayers flow from our hearts.

“Thank you God.”

So my prayers are my closet

and my intentions are the outfits.

Aimee liked this analogy.
