This Is Where You Will Find Me…Today.

This is something very close to my heart.

I am pro-life.

This is a fundraiser for an incredible group called ” CHOICES Women’s Resource Center.

You can find them at www.saveababy.net

They are located right next to two colleges and offer free services to women who find themselves with an unexpected pregnancy.

They offer them Choices.

Not “when would you like to schedule your procedure?”

They DO NOT RECOMMEND OR REFER FOR ABORTIONS.

Medical referrals are given so as to begin care for the baby as soon as possible.

They offer help with baby, maternity, child clothing, diapers, all kinds of baby supplies, cribs, bassinets, crib bedding sets, you get the idea.

They also have many adoption services.

Counseling for before the baby, after you have your baby, if you are post abortive (even 20 years ago), or if you are the daddy of an aborted baby.

They offer free pregnancy testing and are in the process of getting an ultrasound machine so they won’t have to send women somewhere else to receive one.

This is why they are called CHOICES.

Everyone has them.

If they know it or not.

I want as many women as possible to be positively affected by this.

So I am doing my part, not standing on the sidelines, I am going to make a difference.

I will be there at the registration table this year.

Then  I will walk with my family for all the lost babies and for the future babies that will hopefully be saved.

I will be serving food to those who attend.

We have Chick-fil-a, Arby’s and Carl’s Jr on board for the day.

My daughter Aimee is getting into the act too this year.

She will be in charge of the prizes for the little ones at the games that are going to be set up for them.

I am so proud to say that my whole family thinks that this is an important thing to stand for.

Please take this as an invitation to join us!

It is a great cause!

Homeschool:

I recently gave my kids an assignment.

Creation vs. evolution…convince me.

For the Christian child this is not that hard of an assignment.

Our family believes in the truth of the Bible, God’s word and base it all on faith.

So number one for us is Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Then Genesis 1:2

The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

The arguments they gave me were as expected and following along those guidelines.

It is still good to keep them on their toes regarding their faith.

Help them when they are questioned by others to be prepared to back their faith with solid answers.

They were doing great and then I gave them this question that stumped all of them.

Me: Okay guys, now do we agree that there was a great flood?

Kids: Yes.

Me: Is it true that other religions and cultures also believe in a great flood that covered the earth? Just not all of them believe that it was Noah but some one and their family survived correct?

Kids: Yes.

Me: Okay, then where did all the water come from to flood the ENTIRE earth?

Kids: (nothing)

Me: I know some will say that is where the ice in the north came from. When it all melts it could flood the earth. What do you think?

Kids:  (nothing)

Me: Only answer I can come up with is from God.

Kids: That makes sense. Maybe all the water was in the clouds Mom?

Me: That sounds like a good point. Here is my question back, was not the sky blue before the time of the flood?

Kids: I guess so.

Me: Then how could so much water be trapped in the clouds to flood the entire earth? Would the skies not have been so black to have poured down enough rain for 40 days and nights flooding the earth? How would the sun have ever shown through?

Kids: Hmmm.

Me: Now lets take it further, where did the water go? It took 2 years to disappear. Where did it go?

Kids: Maybe it sunk back into the earth?

Me: Good idea! It could have! Lets think about that. Now if it sunk back into the earth, that is a ton of water remember, where would it go? Would we not have huge lakes maybe  even oceans beneath the surface of the earth? Is not the core of the earth a type of lava?  What would happen if all that water eventually sank all the way down to that lava? I see tons of steam happening. What would happen if all that water hit our core? Would it have happened already? The flood was over 2000 years ago and took only 2 years to recede back the depths of the mountains. Would we not be still receding back if the water fell into the earth? Would we not be a water barren planet? There was not enough ice in Iceland to still be keeping all our oceans, lakes and rivers full. The only answer to these questions for me that make sense is God. He is the one who brought the water and He alone is the one who took it away. He made it appear and disappear.

Kids: (pause) Wow mom, you are right. It could only be God.

Me: Amen.

Best Friend Turns 5!

My littlest sweetie’s best friend had a Cowgirl Princess party the other day.

What a cute idea!!

Little girls can amuse themselves with anything!

They found a big stick and just followed each other around with it!

Ha ha ha!!

Did a little boot skootin to Carrie Underwood and  Faith Hill!

It was her first time on a horse too!

Oooh she was so excited and nervous at the same time!!!

She loved it so much, she just kept getting back in line to ride the little horse again!

…and again…

…and  again…

…AND AGAIN!!!

So precious!

Why can’t my girls fall in love with less expensive things?

Horseback ridding is expensive out here!!

Only way to get the little honey off the horse (so the poor owner could go home) was to start a performance!

Belle rocked the guitar while Farrah and friends danced for everyone!

Silly girls!!

Go baby go!!

Whoo Hoo!

Time to spoil the birthday girl!!

She is such a love!

Maybe we should eat something too??

Perfect desserts too….Root beer floats…

…and cupcakes!

Back to the country jam session!!

Go girls!!

Great party!

Tuckered children and fun memories make for a perfect day!

On the Radio

Out here we listen to KSGN.

It’s a local radio station that plays kid friendly Christian music.

You can actually get them on the internet too.

A few of us got our kiddos together and planned a field trip to the radio station.

They were so nice there.

I mean really nice people there.

Here are the amazing group waiting patiently in their front waiting room.

They are all so cute!!

Here they are showing the kids how the mail room works.

Their media board.

It has grown so much even from when we were there!Checking out some of the gifts from musicians who have visited.

Our personal favorite, we took the girls to see her last year in concert.

Amazing!

Waiting to meet Bryan and Brandi.

They were taping while we were there.

They are so kind and real.

Brandi is  setting the kids up to say the pledge of allegiance “on air”.

They were all soooooooo nervous!

I have never heard the pledge so quick before!

Each kiddo got a chance to be right up at the microphone too!

Thanks Bryan, Brandi and everyone at KSGN for giving us such a wonderful day at your studio!

I know none of us will ever forget this day!!

How do you pray?

Question seems simple doesn’t it?

How do you pray?

Seriously though, how do YOU pray?

As I was talking to the Lord this morning, I found myself asking Him if I was praying the right way.

Not that I had asked for something in prayer and had not felt I had an answer, no that is not what I mean.

I was asking, if the way I pray is correct.

Hmmm?

Now when I was little I had 2 prayers that I prayed at night.

1. Now I lay me down to sleep

2. The Lord’s prayer

That was my choice.

Now I admit, while my children are young they have a similar choice at night but I encourage them as they get older to expand with it. I ask them to add things that they really want to talk to God about. I try to as they get older give them a few days to say their prayers alone to get those needed, personal prayers in there to really start their own personal connection with God. This is not to say that we don’t still pray daily together and before meals. At night as they are about to drift off I just want them to be comfortable with speaking to God.

This means that I personally pray like I am speaking to my Heavenly Father.

No I don’t grab some chips, sit down on the couch and chit chat with The Big Guy.

I mean I hit my knees and speak my heart.

I give thanks.

I repent.

I ask.

I petition.

I give thanks again and end.

I speak with respect but I just put it out there.

“Lord, yesterday was so trying for me. I know I lost my cool and that was wrong. I was hurting that someone could be so cruel to me but I had no right to just be a grump to my family because of it. I feel terrible. I heard the Holy Spirit trying to calm me and I thank you for sending the calming. I am sorry if I disappointed you. It was such a hard day. Please help me to be better for it today.”

Now I know that the Lord has given us prayers in the Bible to pray.

One of my favorites is in John 17:21 (NIV)

…Father, just as you are in me and I am in you, May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”

Yes, I know those are Jesus’ words, but I would love the world to know God by my actions.

What a beautiful prayer.

See Jesus just spoke plainly to His Father.

No set up repetition prayer that is always the same.

No thought involved or emotions evoked in those prayers. To me, those are like tying your shoes, just something you do with no thought just reaction.

 I could be wrong though.

The Bible says this in Matthew 6: 9-15 (NIV)

“This, then, is how you should pray:
” ‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’
For if you forgive men when they sin against you,

your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

But if you do not forgive men their sins,

your Father will not forgive your sins.”

So maybe I am wrong.

Maybe I am supposed to just say prayers that are written out.

Yet my heart says no.

Those are great for the days I feel empty, tired, uninspired yet still want to worship my Heavenly Father.

Going back to the Bible, The book of John is filled with words of Jesus just speaking plainly to God.

John 17:1-5 (KJV)

“1These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

2As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

3And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

4I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

5And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”

Now I do not place myself anywhere near being equal to Jesus, for that is impossible, but I do try to follow what He does.

If He prays in a way of speaking His heart to God, He is my prime example and I should follow in those ways correct?

I kneel when I pray.

I know in the Bible there are many ways people prayed.

“For the choir director: A psalm of the descendants of Korah. Come, everyone, and clap your hands for joy! Shout to God with joyful praise! Psalm 47:1

“The Levites stood and praised the Lord with a loud shout” 2 Chronicles 20:19

“So wherever you assemble, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy” 1 Timothy 2:8

“There he told them, ‘Pray that you will not be overcome by temptation.’ He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed” Luke 22:40-41

So many ways to honor and praise Him.

I just want to do it right for He is my Lord and Savior.

I plan on continuing to pray with my heart to the Lord daily.

Just wondering if others do the same.

Homeschool field trip

Oh yeah!

We had a field trip to the new ice cream shop!

It was really nice!

They showed us everything in the shop!

We saw how they make the ice cream and even got some of the secrets for certain flavors!!!

Samples were available and we all got a scoop at the end.

Thank you Handel’s Ice Cream for a fun day!

Now all the kiddos have to give me a report on what they learned.

Thinking about sending them along with thank you cards to the Handel’s Ice Cream Shop…hmmmm?
